Therapy that is future-focused, practical, and cuts out the jargon.
We focus less on diagnosing, and more on building a meaningful life, based on your values and what you want to achieve.
My name is Chris Stanley. I am a Registered Psychologist based in Whakatane. I completed my Masters in Psychology in 2013 at Waikato University. Since then I have worked in education, ACC, private practice, and am currently involved in producing more high tech psychology products.
I enjoy seeing others thrive and will partner with clients to find a way through their struggles. I like using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in the work I do because it’s very practical and clients can see real progress in their lives.
What can I expect in therapy?
I like to focus on building my client’s practical skills and helping them build resilience. The first step is to determine what you are dealing with. From there – and this is where having a psychologist on board can be really helpful – the goal is to give you the correct advice and guidance (rather than relying on the information you get from family, friends and Dr. Google) so you have a plan and a pathway forward. Most people fight against their thoughts and feelings, and end up exhausted. It is rewarding to help clients “give up the struggle” and then be able to focus on the important stuff!
